Top 5: Best Books of 2017

It’s that time of year again! Time to choose my absolute favorite books of 2017. It’s always a difficult task, and so many amazing books came out this past year that it was hard to narrow down. There were so many stand out books–and so many more I know I haven’t been able to get to yet–so picking just five was a real challenge. But, there are always a few that stand out above the rest. My five favorites this year all feature beautiful prose, excellent storytelling, and characters that will grab you by the heart and stay with you.

So here are my top 5 books of 2017. I hope you’ll love them just as much as I did.

7 Must-Read Books Coming Out This Fall

My To Be Read pile is getting extremely out of hand, but what’s a bookworm to do with so many great new books being released all the time? It’s a blessing. Or a curse. So now I’m going to share the love and maybe make your TBR piles a little ridiculous, too.

Here are seven must-read books to add to your TBR list this fall.

With all the hype from the Wonder Woman movie earlier this year, it’s no wonder Wonder Woman: Warbringer is one of the most anticipated releases this fall. This isn’t just a novelization of the movie, though! Wonder Woman: Warbringer is written by Leigh Bardugo, best known for her Grishaverse books like Shadow and Bone and Six of CrowsAnd now she’s tackling Diana’s story.

Warbringer follows a different version of Diana’s first foray into the World of Men. Diana is eager to prove herself amongst her warrior sisters, but when she rescues a mortal girl named Alia, she may doom them all instead. Though she doesn’t know it yet, Alia is a Warbringer, a descendent of Helen of Troy fated to bring about an age of bloodshed. And now her story and Diana’s are inexorably linked.

Book Review: History is All You Left Me

buy Topiramate Book: History is All You Left Me

Author: Adam Silvera

Genre: YA / realistic fiction

Rating: 4.5/5

What it’s about: For Griffin, falling in love with Theo was the easy part, it’s learning to get over him that’s so hard. Especially because now that he’s dead, his presence seems to be a haunting constant, and Theo’s boyfriend (Griffin’s former competition) isn’t half as terrible as he expected. Griffin and Jackson form an unexpected friendship as they try to mourn and heal after losing the boy they both loved, but it’s not that easy when they’re both keeping secrets– about themselves, about Theo, and maybe even about each other. As Griffin spirals, his OCD worsening exponentially in the wake of his first love’s death, he’ll have to come to terms with the history Theo left him and learn how to look to the future.  Continue reading

Top 5: Most Anticipated Books of 2017

A new year, a new collection of books to add to your TBR list which is really getting too long and you should probably do something about that, okay? Or is that just me? Either way there are tons of exciting new releases coming out this year. Here are five books coming out in 2017 that I am eagerly awaiting.

  1. History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera

Griffin always expected his ex-boyfriend Theo to be his future (even if they’re broken up now, and Theo’s moved on to Jackson), but when Theo dies in a tragic drowning accident Griffin doesn’t know where to turn. He’s deep in despair, his OCD is getting worse, and to make matters even more complicated Jackson seems to be the only person to really understand his grief. No one but Griffin can save himself, though, and it will take confronting his past for Griffin to find some way to move forward.

I fell in love with Adam Silvera’s writing last year when I read his debut novel More Happy Than Not. Even though I’ve only read one of his books, he has become one of those authors (and I don’t have many) where I will pre-order anything he writes. That’s how much I loved More Happy Than Not. It was poignant, the characters were honest, and the story was equal parts touching and heartbreaking (with just a dash of near-future sci-fi, which I always love). I’m very excited to see what he’s done with this next novel, and I have high hopes that History is All You Left Me will be just as incredible.
